Free Journal Skins - What does that mean? by GinkgoWerkstatt, journal
Free Journal Skins - What does that mean?
This news article has nothing to do with me being a Gallery Moderator, but based on my own experiences I know that this is a serious issue that causes frustrations and anger quite often. So this news article is mainly about two things: respect and fair behaviour.
I guess every member of deviantART who owns a Premium Membership has used a free journal skin at least once in their dA life, right?
They make your journals look more personal and attractive. It's a nice feature that everyone likes to take advantage of and the best, it is for free – the skins (not the Premium Membership ;)).
To use a skin all you have to do is to click that i
Because there is so much interest in UserStyles but not enough people who actually work on such or know how to create them, this little tutorial series will try to change that. It will start with the basics, will explain all the things you need to know and will also give you little tasks, you can do, to become more involved.
What is a 'UserStyle'?
When we go to the User Style category it is not quite clear what a User Style really is. Buried under the massive amount of miscats there are only a few right deviations.
Opposite to what the name might suggests it is not about the style of a certain user. It does not mean that the category can be

Every now and then the "someone is abusing my code" topic comes up again. Most of the journal/gallery skins that can be found on dA can be used for free.
But for free only means that you don't have to pay for it or only a small fee in case it is a Premium Content. It does not mean that you are allowed to do with it whatever you want.
Basically stick to: whenever you install a journal/gallery just use it for yourself. As soon as you want to make changes of any kind, get in contact with the original creator (unless they have some skin rules somewhere).
I have covered this topic several times already. Sometimes more in detail abo

The difference between b/strong and i/em
B Strong? I em!
Okay, yes... that was terrible... but what are the differences between <b> and <strong>, and <i> and <em>?
On a normal web browser (on a laptop, computer, or tablet) they have the same effect.
So, for those of you who are aware of the IdleRPG I've been running for dAmn named #dAmnIdlers (https://www.deviantart.com/damnidlers), you should know that there's a website (which I've recently updated) that can be found at this location which has a listing of all the registered users, as well as information on each user. For the developers among you who would like to integrate some stats into your works (bots, applications, websites, etc) I wrote a simple API to obtain information related to the users of #dAmnIdlers.
The script can be found here and using it is quite simple. There are two important variables that you can pass to it. The first is fmt, which stands for format.
